The annual meeting for the Pioneer Richardson Weyburn Red Wings hockey club will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27 at a location yet to be determined.

Those interested in attending the AGM need to preregister with the Red Wings office, and a location will be set once the team has a list of how many people want to attend.

Members must preregister for the annual meeting by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21.

Red Wings president Brent Stephanson said the Sask Health COVID guidelines state that a gathering can have 30 people at the most, even outside. If more than that register to attend the meeting, it may have to be held by Zoom.

He noted that with team coaching staff, the board and MNP, there is already 12 to 14 people who will need to be at the meeting.

If the guidelines are increased at all, say to allow 50 people, they might be able to gather outdoors at the grandstand, or on the ice surface in the Sports Arena with people bringing their own chairs, if allowed by Sask Health.

The annual meeting was originally set for the spring, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it was postponed.

The league schedule has been set for the Red Wings, but the schedule and how training camp or exhibition games can go is yet to be determined by Sask Health, said Stephanson.

At this point, the opening game for the season will be on Friday, Sept. 25 with the Red Wings hosting the Yorkton Terriers, with the return game in Yorkton on Sept. 26.

As far as training goes, the ice is set to go in to the Sports Arena by Sept. 8, and then in Crescent Point Place by Sept. 26.

It is unknown as yet how exhibition games or regular season games will go, or if any spectators will be allowed, or how many, said Stephanson, noting that the Gold Wings midget girls and Weyburn Minor Hockey also want to know when they can hit the ice or do any practices.

In order to be able to vote at the AGM, people must be an active member of the Red Wings. The fee is $200 for a new member, and $20 for renewal of the membership.
