Weyburn’s Team Tracey will be competing at the Club Curling Championships (Nationals) in Leduc, Alta., on November 25-30.The team is comprised of skip Danette Tracey, third Jade Bloor, second Shelby Sidloski and lead Calli Benko.

The rink’s first game will be on Monday, Nov. 25 versus Northern Ontario, and will start at 8:30 p.m.

The team played in provincials at the end of March last season in Melfort and were undefeated throughout.

This is the third time that Jade Bloor and Danette Tracey have curled in this national event. It is especially exciting for Danette and Calli to be curling together as mother and daughter at nationals. Danette also was a coach to Jade, Shelby and Calli and was one of the first to teach them all to curl.

Danette feels it’s a very rewarding experience to be able to teach these young women to curl and then be able to compete with them in a national event.

Curling fans can follow the games live on www.curling.caand on the CurlSASK website www.curlsask.ca. The team will be writing three blog posts on The CurlSASK website during the duration of the week. There will also be some televised games but that will be determined during the event.

The team was also asked to do some fundraising. There is a website to donate to and the women are putting together a silent auction gift basket with all items made in Saskatchewan. All donations are welcome. The website can be found at https://www.curling.ca/2019clubchampionships/fundraising/

This event will coincide with the Canada Cup, to be held on Nov. 27-Dec. 1, featuring teams such as Homan, Jones, Koe, Dunstone (from Regina) and Jacobs to name a few. The winners both qualify for the Roar of the Rings Olympic Qualifier.
