Weyburn students going to provincial track

The Weyburn Comprehensive, Junior High and St. Michael's Schools competed at the Southeast District Athletic Association track and field competition in Weyburn on May 28.

Weyburn Comprehensive School student Tanner Russell (centre) won the junior boys final 100-metre race at the South East District Athletic Association district track meet at the Comp on May 28. Russell will join several other Weyburn and area students at the provincial track competition on June 4 in Saskatoon.

The Weyburn Comprehensive, Junior High and St. Michael's Schools competed at the Southeast District Athletic Association track and field competition in Weyburn on May 28. All first and second place winners from the Comp will be competing at provincials in Moose Jaw on June 4 and 5.*Junior Boys: Tanner Russell placed first in the 100-metre race and long-jump; Brett Selby placed first in the 1,500-metre race and second in the 800-metre race; Derek Tracey placed first in 3,000-metre race and second in the 1,500-metre race; and Josh Forsgren placed first in the 400-metre and 800-metre races, and triple jump. He placed second in long jump.*Junior girls: Ricki Giroux placed second in the 100-metre race and 80-metre hurdles; Ashley Bell placed first in triple jump and second in long jump; Shelby Bendtsen placed first in discus.*Senior girls: Alyssa Kimber placed first place in the 800-metre race and second in the 1,500-metre race.
