Weyburn Synchro Stars attend competition

The Weyburn Synchro Stars attended the Diane Lemon Invitational Competition on January 25 and 26 in Saskatoon. The figure event was held Saturday and all athletes swam their personal bests.

Participating in the 10 and Under event from the club were Emma Kot who placed 16th and Ashley Kot who placed 21st.


Participating in the 12 and Under event were Morgan Sprecken - 12th, Katie Robinson - 13th, Kayla Olfert - 15th, Megan Dammann - 19th, Abby Pohl - 22nd and Jaylynn Haupstein - 26th. Participating in the Novice Category were Mackenzie Kot, placing 8th and Mackenna Glennie placing 18th.


In the 13 to 15 event, Jillian Harder placed 6th, Alexis Vandermey placed 16th and Savannah Pohl placed 17th.


The duet competition was held on Saturday. Under coach Tracey Rothwell, in the 13 to 15 age group, Savannah Pohl and Alexis Vandermey placed second in routine and received a silver medal for championship.


Sunday highlighted the routine events.


The 12 and Under team finished fourth in routine and fourth in championship narrowly missing the medals in a very tight competition. Members of the 12 and Under team include: Mackenna Glennie, Abby Pohl, Jaylynn Haupstein, Megan Dammann, Morgan Sprecken, Kayla Olfert, Katie Robinson and Mackenzie Kot. They are coached by Jasmine Fraser.


The Southeast Connections Synchronized Swim Team, which consists of local swimmers Jillian Harder and Savannah Pohl received first in routine and a gold medal in championship. This team is made up of swimmers from the Weyburn Synchro Stars and the Estevan Mermaids.


The Weyburn Synchro Stars are very proud to have three of their athletes attending the Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert in February. Savannah Pohl and Alexis Vandermey will perform their duet, while JillianHarder and Savannah Pohl will participate in the team event.
