The playoff run for the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings of the Big Six hockey league, has come to an end after being defeated by the Carnduff Red Devils in the semi-finals last night.

The best-of-five series between the two teams started on Feb.25 in Carduff. The Wheat Kings won the first game 4-3, but the Red Devils took the next two 5-2 and 4-3 thus forcing a game four.

The fourth game was hosted by the Wheat Kings on Thursday night, but the home-ice advantage was no help as the Wheat Kings took an 8-1 beating. The lone goal scorer for the Wheat Kings was Thomas Carleton.

The elimination of the Wheat Kings comes as bit of a surprise as the team was last year's league winners, but it's supposedly been a shaky year for the Wheat Kings when it comes to getting full bench at every game.

The Red Devils now move onto to the finals and will face either the Redvers Rockets or the Bienfait Coalers. The second team making it to the finals will be determined in game five of the two teams series on Tuesday, March.10.
