The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings hosted the Yorkton Terriers Wednesday night for the second preseason game of the year.

The Terriers started off the scoring early in the game with a goal by Ryan Ries, but Braden Birnie quickly answered back and tied up the game. Ben Hiltz had the assist on that one.

At 7:50 in the first, Kai Studler got an unassisted beauty that put the Wings up 2-1.

Just over four minutes into the second period, Hiltz hammered one that rebounded off the Terriers goalie's pads and right onto the stick of Jordan Kojima who swiftly swept it past the goal line.

The line of Birnie, Hiltz and Kojima was on fire as Birnie got his second goal of the night. Hiltz found Kojima's stick through a crowd of Terriers.Kojima then did a behind the back pass to Birnie that allowed him to easily chip it into the net.

Yorkton did put up another goal before the end of the second period to make it 4-2.

Hiltz scored just over six minutes into the third with assistance from Connor Karo.

About two minutes later, Terriers put another one of the board to make it 5-3.

With help from Jacob Piller, Tyson McLean scored the sixth goal for the Wings and the final goal of the game.

The Red Wings next preseason game is at home Friday night against the Notre Dame Hounds.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
