The Weyburn Red Wings announced on Tuesday night that they are parting ways with former General Manager and Head scout Tanner McCall. In a social media post, the Red Wings thanked McCall for his involvement in being a GM and scouting as well as acting as an assistant coach for the team in the past. Going forward the newly annouced head coach, Rich Pilon, will assume the role as General Manager. Team president Brent Stephanson said the board evaluated the last three years of McCall's work, and made the decision to go in a different direction. "We want to show our fans we'd like to get back to the Royal Bank Cup." He added that Pilon is bringing a work ethic to the team where he will expect the players to work hard and learn at every practice and in every game, and "doing what you need to do to win." The team will also want to continue with the community involvement as in the past, such as visits to the schools and day cares, playing with the Special Olympics floor hockey team and so on.
