Two dead after house fire in northern Saskatchewan village

PELICAN NARROWS, Sask. — Two people have died after a house fire in a northern Saskatchewan village.

Pelican Narrows RCMP responded to reports of a fire just before 11 a.m. on Saturday and found a house engulfed in flames.

Officers believe seven or eight people, including two children, were inside the home, and all but two men were able to get out safely.

The provincial fire scene examiner and Saskatchewan Coroners Service went to the scene on Sunday and found the bodies.

They have not yet been identified.

Police say they don't believe the fire is suspicious, but they are continuing their investigation into the cause.

Pelican Narrows is about 510 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
