The third annual Jane’s Walk Weyburn took place Saturday morning. This year’s walk was themed “The Main Drag: Weyburn’s Historic Main Street” The group started at the former King George Hotel and walked downtown along 3rd Street with a final destination of the Weyburn Credit Union. Lead by City Organizer, Lindsay Manko-Bauche, Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, citizen-led event that encourages people to share stories about their neighborhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbours. Jane’s Walks take place in hundreds of cities around the world. Some of the historic buildings and businesses that were mentioned during the walk was the history of the King George Hotel, how the Club Café came to be, why a Starbucks was added to Pharmasave, the glory days of not one, but two of the town’s movie theatres and the Legion.
